There is a trend that is growing in popularity with companies needing to add employees during these rebounding, yet still uncertain, economic times: Contract-to-Hire.  It’s a model that is touted to cost effectively streamline a company’s hiring process and allow hiring managers to make full time staffing decisions in confidence.  It seems simple, a company identifies a need and works with a staffing partner in selecting a candidate to join their organization on a contract basis, with the intention and understanding that if it is the proper fit they will be converted to a permanent / direct employee.  If at any point during this time the hiring manager feels that the candidate is not the proper solution, the assignment ends and another candidate can be brought in to begin the process anew.  The stated benefits are that positions are filled on a timely basis with first rate resources and the process is cost effective because there are no unemployment costs or benefit payments should the relationship end.
